    The backpack is back

    19th May 2019

I would never forget how much I loved my backpack when I was a teenager – and beyond, I’ve always used it to go to uni. I had a very much sought-after (at the time) Jansport (the alternative was Eastpack) in a dark navy (one of the very few times I ever had something blue in my life, I have to admit!) with a leather bottom and a cute rounded shape at the top. You wouldn’t fit too much in it, but it was cool to not bring all books xf rolex daytona mens rolex calibre 7750 116500 black dial to school those days (we had so many, we shared some with our closest classmate). My mother insisted I shouldn’t sport the backpack on a single shoulder because I’d become hunchbacked – yeah, drama queen mom for the win – but nobody would wear it on both so whatevs. Plus, the last year of high school I was driving so I would not even carry it for that long.

Flash forward to 2019: not sure what happened there but hey, I am slowly becoming my mother (well, maybe not that extremely, but still). And while the backpack trend is all the rage, I can’t bring myself to give into this style. For me backpacks are bulky, too casual and if you have new elf bar narrow shoulders like I do, their straps keep annoyingly sliding off. OK, the sleek Louis Vuitton, the canvas Chanel and the leather Gucci versions are cute – I can’t deny it but I won’t be falling for them anytime soon. Modern (adult) backpack lovers everywhere tell me they love the practical nostalgia they evoke and the handy way to wear it (with the possibility to carry many things well balanced on both your shoulders).

But my point is: if I need more things, I use a suitcase 🙂 Jokes aside: I don’t think I’ll adopt this trend after all.

And you? What do you think?

Are you a backpack extremist or a hand bag aficionado?
