B for Barcelona, P for Paris…

9th February 2017

For once, my January has been used for what it is: a month to travel. I was in Mexico until the 9th and as I normally get lower volumes of work, I told myself that for once, instead of feeling helpless and prey of the blues, I should make the most of this low season (for some destinations) and capitalise on cheap tickets. So, we went to Barcelona and Paris, one week apart.

Barcelona.

We found a super offer on RyanAir on Black Friday and we flew return for just £25 per person. Amazing. That’s why I opted for splurging on a pricey place I’ve wanted to try for a while, the W Hotel. As you can see from the images, the room had a stunning view over the bay. The best part? Waking up with the sun peaking in through our window. #dream

Sun was shining, crisp air and lovely strolls: this was the theme of our city break. We had lunch in La Cuina d’en Garriga, a cute little place just off Passeig de Gràcia – where a good friend Sandra Blasco took me last year. We particularly fell in love with the serrano platter and the huevos estrellados (pictured below).

For breakfast we attempted a brunch, but actually we were too hungry we managed to only wait till 10.30ish. We went to one Brunch & Cake, a brunch specialist chain that has spots all over Barcelona. This marine-themed location is called Brunch & Cake by the sea and it was just half a mile from the hotel and we loved everything. Right before leaving, we also tried a ride on the funicular – a bumpy trip not one for the faint of heart, but able to gift us with lovely views over the city – in 10 minutes.

What I wore

Hat: H&M | Faux fur: Hobbs | Jeans: Anine Bing | Boots: Jimmy Choo | Glasses: Chanel (last season)| Scarf: Club Monaco (last season) | Cardi: Zara | Sandals: Valentino | WoC: Chanel | Phone: iPhone 7 Plus (cover in light pink) – shown: fedora, Club Monaco

Paris.

My mum waited 35 years before going back to Paris – it was about time we went. I found tickets on Eurostar for under £100 return per person so the occasion was too yummy to be missed.

Even if just for a weekend, we enjoyed every angle of the Tour Eiffel and pinky, soft sunsets in the Jardins de Tuileries. We couldn’t help but stop in my favourite places –Place Vendôme – and at the Chanel Rue Cambon boutique, where I was lucky enough to find a pair of beautiful ankle boots (on sale! Not shown). Ah, la vie en rose.

All in all, it always pays to spend your weekend travelling even if it means getting home a bit tired – especially when you like walking everywhere!

    Hi Val!

Gorgeous photos <3. I especially loved your Mexico post – Tulum is definitely going on the list! We're off to NYC in a few weeks and I know you've been a number of times. Can you recommend anywhere to eat?

Megan! I loved Mexico. Tulum is so cute.

And for NYC I always recommend Gramercy Tavern – one of my favourite!
